We made a change to our system that should help to reduce spam.
By default any new forum that is created will require users who register to enter a visual code. This will help prevent BOTS from registering automatically.
We also made a change that will make new forums created with your forum set to be defaulted to "Registered" instead of "Public". This will require logging for someone to post to the forum. Again this should help prevent BOTS from automatically filling your forums with garbage.
We hope these changes will make your forum more enjoyable. If you encounter problems resulting from these changes please let us know.
THANKS |

I manually set all my forum topics to allow post from registered users and had not had any spam post until today when my board was flooded with post from an unregistered user, how did that happen? It seems they were able to override the setting and post without thier account being activated. Of course I deleted them and all thier post and banned the ip, etc... but I would like to prevent this from happening again.
I don't know if you can answer this since you have 900 spammers in your member list but any help would be appreciated. |
